Abstract

This thesis describes the spatial pattern of multiple occupancy residential structures in Hamilton through time. Statistical, verbal, and cartographic description are employed to analyse the spatial patterns at four time periods and the changes from one time period
to another. An attempt is also made to explain the spatial pattern of multiple occupancy residential structures within a multi-variate framework. A range of locator variables is identified from the literature and interviews. Four variables are then selected from this range and utilised in a multiple regression analysis in an effort to explain the occurrence of multiple occupancy residential structures in terms of their spatial relationships with the selected variables .
