dc.description.abstract
Some general results applicable to complicated spectra are derived. These involve the mathematical simplification of a system response, as well as an investigation of some statistical properties of data. The technique is applicable to all spectra with distributed features. This work involves a study of the gamma radiation spectra following therma1 neutron capture in 15 nuclides in the mass range 28≤A≤204. Invoking a statistical model of the nucleus allows a determination of nuclear temperature and level spacing from the spectra. On the basis of the model and the spectral multiplicity we assign absolute intensities to spectroscopic data. The results are found to agree with previously reported values based upon other data and methods.
en_US
