dc.description.abstractThis study explores how diversity-focused recruitment strategies can help Canadian organizations source and retain diverse talent to build inclusive and successful workforces. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research combines interviews with recruiters, HR managers, and job seekers alongside public data analysis to examine systemic barriers and gaps in current recruitment practices. Findings reveal that traditional hiring methods, such as outdated job boards and rigid screening systems, may perpetuate biases and exclude underrepresented talent. While AI-driven tools and community partnerships show promise in reducing these barriers, challenges also persist in retention due to gaps in onboarding, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Although diversity-focused recruitment firms can help to bridge gaps between organizations and marginalized talent pools, funding constraints and policy misalignment limit their impact. Recommendations emphasize adopting AI tools, strengthening mentorship programs, and tracking DEI outcomes to foster inclusive hiring and retention strategies. This research highlights the need for sustained efforts and systemic reforms to create equitable and effective workforce practices in Canada.
