Abstract
Description
This paper focuses on lacking accessibility of PrEP, a treatment plan for HIV-negative individuals who are at a high risk of contracting the virus. The causes of these accessibility concerns, such as financial barriers, knowledge gaps within medical professionals’ perceptions of the treatment, and specific experiences within several Canadian communities, are explored. Lastly, potential solutions that could be implemented within the Canadian context are proposed to tackle these issues, including increased provincial government funding for medication coverage, physician training, and public education campaigns.
