Minicomputer Control of a Latex Reactor

Abstract

<p>A minicomputer software and hardware system was developed to monitor and control the particle size growth in the emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate. The basis of the on line detector was a UV spectrophotometer which measured turbidity as a function of wavelength .</p> <p>A preliminary investigation was made to develop a technique for converting turbidity measurements into particle size distributions.</p>
