dc.description.abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to design bandwidth efficient codes for use in a time selective fading channel. A time selective fading channel, the correlated Rayleigh fading channel, is analyzed and criteria for the design of bandwidth efficient codes are presented. These criteria are used to design new codes which are inherently resistant to Rayleigh fading. The new codes are analyzed and a decoding algorithm for the codes is presented. Simulations of the performance of the codes and the decoding algorithm are then presented. Simulations of the performance of the codes and the decoding algorithm are then presented. Finally, a channel estimator that generates the necessary information for decoding is presented, analyzed, and simulated.
en_US
