Abstract
<p> Several experimental situations were designed to show that when all visual, tactile and chemical stimuli are eliminated, fish are still capable of attracting one another and orienting to one another. Attempts to ascertain the nature of this unknown sensory basis of schooling were unsuccessful.</p>
