The Alkylation of 3,4-Dihydro-B-Carbolines

Abstract

The structure of anhydro- and pseudobases obtained from N-alkyl-3,4-dihydro-B-carbolinium salts is discussed in the light of chemical and spectroscopic evidence. The behaviour of these compounds on further alkylation and the structure of the alkylation products so obtained has been investigated.
