Abstract

The effect of slip, in the form of a bond stress-slip relationship at the concrete-steel interface, on the behaviour of reinforced concrete beams without web reinforcement is examined. The beam is analysed as a composite beam with incomplete interaction. An elastic and an inelastic method of analyses are developed. An analysis of the concrete teeth structure is presented. Also, a theory of cracking is presented. A review of the state of the art of the load-deformation characteristics, for the elements of the beam, and of the criteria of failure for beams is presented. The proposed method is used to analyse Leonhardt and Walther's and Taylor's tested beams, and to examine the influence of M/Vd ratio and bond-slip relationship. Finally, an inelastic method of analysis of multilayered composite systems (a continuous beam is an example) is presented.
