Abstract

<p>This thesis investigates the socio-historical roots of modern sociology in France. It traces the development of sociology as reflected in the works of Saint Simon, Comte and Durkheim and relates the content of these works to the shifting class structure in France from approximately 1789 to 1900.</p>
