dc.description.abstract
The chemistry of pyridoxine has been critically examined with a view to obtaining new intermediates suitable for the systematic degradation of the molecule. Use has been made of three new degradation schemes arising from this work to isolate atoms C-2 , C-2 ', C- 4, C- 4' and C-5' of radioactive pyridoxine obtained from feeding experimen ts . · The biosynthesis of pyridoxine is discussed in the light of the degradation results which demonstrate that pyridoxine is derived from three molecules of glycerol.
en_US
