Abstract

A multi-orifice bubble reactor has been constructed to study the product distribution of oxidation of acetaldehyde catalysed by cobaltous acetate. This investigation is confined to the bubble regime in which the bubbled are discrete and essentially uniform in size.

A kinetic description of the same reaction was proposed and the numerical values of the reaction rate constants were obtained based on the results of an experimental batch reactor study

A mathematical model, assuming perfect mixing in the liquid phase, was also developed to predict the product distribution of the oxidation of acetaldehyde in the multi-orifice bubble reactor. The solutions of the mathematical model were then compared with the experimental results.
