dc.description.abstract
This is a cross-cultural examination of aspects of selected social structures found in preliterate societies. It seeks a correlation between these structures and termination of marriage. The results were not conclusive but the paper suggests many further avenues of investigation, the most fruitful of which appears to be the degree of severance of women from their natal groups at the time of marriage. The sample is drawn from the HRAF.
en_US
