This thesis describes the experimental and theoretical analysis of a shallow spherical calotte shell of hexagonal plan. Installation of strain agues in the circumferential ad radial directions enabled the measurement of the direct and flexural strains, from which the corresponding stress resultants and stress couples could be evaluated. In the theoretical analysis, an approximate solution utilizing the collocation procedure for satisfaction of boundary conditions is used.en_US
