dc.description.abstract
The pathways in the motobolism of pyrimidine bases, nucleosides and nucleotides in Bacillue and subtilia were determined and the relative importance of the pathways in the synthesis of dTTP was evaluated. Pathways involved in the metabolism of pyrimidine compounds in PBS 1-infected cells of B,subtilia were proposed on the basis of the present results and those of earlier studies. The contribution of the various pathways to the biosynthesis of dUTP in PBS 1-infected cells was investigated by labelling the phase DNA with radioactive bases and nucleosides in mutant strains blocked at various stops of the metabolism.
en_US
