Abstract: <p>This thesis proposed to investigate the role played by Methionine transfer RNA in the initiation of protein synthesis in the extreme halophile Halobacterium cutirubrum. Techniques were demonstrated for the isolation of two isoaccepting tRNA^not on BD-cellulose and RPC-5, was tentatively identified as a non-formylated initiator.</p>
