dc.description.abstract | A study was made of the variables affecting the quantitative precipitation of titanium with m-nitrophenylarsonic acid. The precipitate formed in the presence of a large excess of reagent was found, by a polarographic method, to be the di-m-nitrophenylarsenate. The precipitation was shown to be the basis for an accurate method for the polarographic determination of titanium. Several complex alloys of widely differing compositions were successfully analyzed for titanium by this new method. The feasibility of an amperometric titration of titanium with nnitrophenylarsonic acid was demonstrated. Under the conditions of an amperometric titration, the composition of the precipitate is apparently the mono-m-nitrophenylarsonate. | en_US |
