Abstract: John Bandler formed the Simulation Optimization Systems Research Laboratory (SOS Lab) at McMaster University in 1983 with the aim of advancing the state of the art in device modeling and optimal design of complex engineering systems. The SOS Lab actively published research reports from 1983 to 2002. It followed the Research Group on Simulation, Optimization and Control (G-SOC), also coordinated by Bandler. Reports produced from 1977 to 1983 may be found in both G-SOC and SOS Lab report series. The SOS Lab's areas of focus have included design centering, optimal assignment of tolerances, postproduction tuning, large-scale optimization, active device parameter extraction, physics-based statistical device modeling and simulation, design methodologies for GaAs microwave/millimeter-wave monolithic integrated circuits, microwave measurement technology, exploitation of full-wave electromagnetic simulators, and more.
Description: The Simulation Optimization Systems Research Laboratory (SOS Lab) actively published from 1983 to 2002. This website features SOS Lab reports and associated documents, reflecting the work of Bandler and his colleagues from 1977-2002.
