Abstract

This presentation addresses critical issues of automated EM optimization, including: interfaces between gradient-based optimizers and discretized EM field solvers; integration of EM analysis with circuit simulation, including harmonic balance simulation of nonlinear circuits; the Geometry Capture concept that allows user-defined optimizable structures of arbitrary geometry; Space Mapping optimization, including intelligent correlation between engineering models of different fidelity; the robustness of optimization algorithms and uniqueness of the solutions.

Presentation notes for a presentation given as part of the IMA Workshop on Large Scale Optimization at the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications, Minneapolis, Minnesota. The workshop took place during the week of 17-21 July 1995.
