Abstract: | OSA90/hope™ is a state-of-the-art, general purpose CAD software system offering simulation, modeling, statistical analysis, nominal and yield optimization, and data visualization for linear and nonlinear RF/microwave analog circuits. Throughout this manual, OSA90/hope is referred to as OSA90. This Lab Manual is designed to familiarize users to OSA90/hope™ capabilities and concepts, providing six laboratory exercises with a range of topics including simulation, device modeling, and optimization. Users will improve their understanding of circuit simulation, performance- and yield-driven design, device modeling using OSA90/hope’s built-in library, and reinforce theoretical knowledge through practical use in experiments. Labs included within this manual are: Lab 1: Simulation of an LC Transformer; Lab 2: Nonlinear Memoryless Circuits: DC and Time-Domain Simulation; Lab 3: Performance-Driven Design of Nonlinear Circuits; Lab 4: Device Modeling from Experimental Data; Lab 5: Statistical Design Centering; and Lab 6: Simulation and Optimization Using Datapipe. |
Description: | OSA90/hope is a general CAD software system offering simulation, modeling, statistical analysis, nominal and yield optimization, and data visualization for linear and nonlinear analog circuits. Its open architecture allows you to create fully optimizable interconnections of components, subcircuits, simulators and mathematical functions. OSA90/hope runs on PC platforms under Windows 95® and Windows NT®, and on UNIX workstations: Sun, Hewlett-Packard and DEC under X-Window. This manual contains six laboratory exercises used to provide McMaster University students with experience in applying course knowledge to practical application and familiarity with OSA’s OSA90/hope software capabilities. John Bandler used OSA90/hope extensively in his undergraduate and graduate courses at McMaster through the 1990s and 2000s. |
