Authors: Onions, Diane

Abstract: This study describes the analysis of orientation of elongate quartz grains in turbidite greywackes of the Normanskill Formation, (Ord.) New York. No relationship is found between grain orientation and sole features of the beds. No relationship exists between grain orientations taken at different levels above the base of the beds. Maximum grain size and maximum elongation decrease upwards in the beds. The most elongate grains are those which most clearly show preferred orientation.
