Abstract
Description
The Jews of Stühlingen website is the product of an original investigation into the life of the rural Jewish community of Stühlingen (Stuehlingen) Germany during the period from 1580 to 1743, at which point the Jews were evicted. Over 4,000 German archival records were reviewed to retrieve information about the activities of Jewish residents in the region. This data was digitized and compiled into a prosopographic data set, structured by family name and source. The website provides access to English translations of these archival records and presents a structured vision of the people and events that these records document. This information is further interpreted and historically contextualized in an accompanying digital book, The Jews of Stühlingen: Rise and Fall of a Rural Jewish Community (2016). Archived copies of this work were deposited May 2017
