Abstract: |
Current Distribution and Metal Flow in the crucible of an Electric Arc Furnace is investigated using a small-scale, three dimensional model. Results obtained indicate that current distribution for furnaces of different sizes and ratings may be predicted using one model. Naturally occurring metal flow is shown to be related to phase rotation of the supply voltage. A two-phase, four-elecrode design is proposed as an alternative to the present three-phase, three-electrode design.
|
