dc.description.abstract |
This thesis is a general study of Louis Rustaing de Saint-Jory's Les Femmes militaires (1735). It compares sorne aspects of Saint-Jory's work to a few earlier imaginary voyages and discusses contemporary literary tastes, in particular Orientalism and medievalism. It seeks possible sources for the author's ideas on the equality of the sexes and traces the development of feminism in France from the latter half of the seventeenth century to the time of publication of Saint-Jory's novel.
| en_US |
