almanat Sannel is mentioned. Sannel's widow carried on his business after his death in 1629. She seems to have been a keen business woman, and is listed 71 times. Eventually, she managed to catch "Marum Tochtermannlin" as husband for her daughter and passed the business to him.
Our sources - administrative and court records - very rarely mention women usually in regards to family linkages between men, around significant dowries, and dealing with estates. Occasionally widows continue their husbands' business, but they simply are recorded as "widow of ...".
A few times women were fined for minor infractions. Women are rarely called by their names in official documents. Commonly they are designated "wife of ..." or "daughter of ..". It is possible however, that the 5000 records contain more clues relating to women, than we have detected to date.
